#DRAPING WITH MARC JACOBS

We’ve been through contouring, nontouring, strobing and so much more so it’s easy to assume there can’t possibly be anything new introduced to the Beauty world that’s going to be on par. Well I’m obsessed with the newest Beauty trend recreated by Marc Jacobs. I say recreated because it was in fact Marc Jacobs friend Way Bandy, the celebrity make up artist to numerous stars from Diana Ross to Cher. Sadly Way Bandy died in the 80’s but he left behind a bespoke contouring technique known as ‘Draping’. As a Make Up Artist myself, I mix shades and textures all the time to achieve the desired finish. Way Bandy used to mix textures and shades to create a softer contoured finish which is reminiscent of Studio 54.

Marc Jacobs Global Make Up Artist; Gilbert Soliz recently visited Dubai to launch the new Air Blush Soft Glow Duo Collection. A collection of five powder blush duo compact of two shades that delivers radiance all day. This ultra light-weight blush is created using a process called soufflage (French for air whipped) for a silky, cream like texture that blends effortlessly into the skin. You may also recognize the striped pattern of the blush which is inspired by a Marc Jacobs dress.

Draping 101

  2. Now drape the upper part of the cheekbones.
  3. Add color to the tip of your chin.
  4. Sweep along the centre of the neck and décolletage.
